Technology is only as useful as we make it.

ReplyDeleteTechnology is innovative and has helped made difficult things much simpler. For example, instead of mailing each college a handwritten application and essay, it can simply be done on the common app.
Technology is misused constantly, especially in parenting, it is an easy way for the parent to shrug off conflicts, like the examples we talked about in class.
Technology contributes to a lot of the danger and pollution in the world; gasoline engines, nuclear bombs, power plants, etc.
Technology balances out. Medical technology has helped save many lives, technology has also wasted many lives. Technology has polluted the world (wasteful energy, overuse of resources), it has also helps clean and preserve the world (bio-remediation: using microbes and plants to clean contamination).
Technology is addictive. As both a distraction and a convient tool it has become very interwoven in our society.

Technology is developing rapidly. In the last few years technology has changed quickly. From computers that took up entire rooms to computers that fit right into your pockets, technology will only continue to change.
Technology is slowly phasing out people in the workplace. Examples of surgeical robots and the new amazon drones come to mind.
Technology can build Barrie's and break them down. Like talking to a friend across the globe, or using it to isolate yourself in your house.
Technology can break relationships just as easily as it can build them due to miscommunication. It is often very difficult to convey emotion over a text, and one comment can easily mistaken for for something else.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is an escape. People often use it as a way to distract us from the real problems in their life. It is also often used as a way to get out of interactions with other people that they may not want to have in person, because sending a text can sometimes be easier.
Part of the reason the US has such a large obesity problem is due to technology. All kids want to do is sit inside and play video games, or go on their phones instead of playing outside and staying active with their friends.
Technology beats people down. Cyber bullying happens all the time, because people are more likely to say rude and hateful comments online rather than to someone's face.
Technology keeps us alive. It helps produce our food, and supply us with clean water that we can drink. Without technology life would not be possible.
